The Fresno Nightcrawlers are an internet-era cryptid known from two short surveillance videos: a 2007 home-security recording from the front yard of a Fresno, California homeowner who identified himself only as 'Jose', and a 2011 motion-activated trail-camera clip from Yosemite Lakes Park (Coarsegold, Madera County), about 50 miles north-east of Fresno. Both clips depict pale, white or grey figures roughly 2–4 feet tall, consisting of two long thin legs ending in apparent feet and a small head, with no visible torso or arms — popularly described as 'walking pants'. The 2007 footage was first taken by 'Jose' to the Fresno-area Spanish-language television station Univision and then to local paranormal investigator Victor Camacho. Both videos have been examined on television (notably MonsterQuest in 2010 and Paranormal Files / Fact or Faked) and on YouTube; mainstream skeptical opinion treats the footage as almost certainly a hoax — most likely simple puppetry or video compositing of a pair of trousers — though no specific perpetrator has admitted to either video, and the original Fresno camera owner has stuck to his account. Some popular accounts associate the figures with Yokuts (Central Valley Indigenous) traditions of small forest beings, but this attribution is not supported by tribal sources and is regarded by folklorists as unfounded. The Nightcrawlers became a cultural marker for Fresno in the late 2010s and have appeared in city-tourism materials, T-shirts, murals and an annual Fresno Nightcrawler Day.
